its all upto you.if you think that a normal friendship is like girlfriend and boyfriend relationship, you won't  have any girls as a friend in the future cuz not every girl can be your girlfriend and this really gives the girl the impression that you're just trying to while away your time with her and show off by showing everyone that 'see how many girlfriends i have you guys don't even have one'.in the end the guy becomes lonely and no girl comes near him.eventually the guy becomes an outcast

I think if you've known someone since you were kids you aren't going to dump the friendship years later just because they're of the OS and don't want to take you to bed.  Also, there are some men in this world who are actually very sensitive, don't like sports, and are bookish.  They prefer spending time with girls because they like to exchange ideas and don't "fit in" with the average jock.  These type of friends probably won't try to get you into bed, but they do fall in love with their "girl" friends instead.  This however can be worse and lead to scenes with a lot of sobbing.

Some guys, those in art-related fields of study, poets, painters, etc... have lots of girl friends because a) they are open to different experiences and also their egos are often so large they can't bear to be near "competition" of any kind.  Women tend to make better audiences. 

Some guys just happen to really like women and enjoy having them in their lives.

dude i have one chick friend and she is the sister of my best guy friend. I have known them since i was 4. Thats the only way a guy can have a chick friend. Not necessarily homosexual since they try to eventually "get more" just like everyone else.  Just more sensitive and willing to spend hours talking about all kinds of stuff over chai tea at quiet little cafes.

Nope.  I really have no desire to, to be honest.  I figure it's only asking for trouble.  I exchange pleasantries but as far as hanging out or lunch, no.  Like I said, I have two close girl friends.  One since age 6 and the other who helped me through a bad patch.  I think long term friendships are okay but as far as co-workers of the OS, I probably never will.  To quote Billy Crystal, "I don't want any falase flirtings."

It's different when there's a group dynamic in play...   I think guys can be "friends" with girls when it's in the context of a larger group...  i.e. you hang with and do things with a "group" that includes 5 guys and 3 girls.  But a one-on-one friendship? Only if you're trying to get in the girl's pants!

Yes I KNOW all guys would "bone" their "girl" friends in a second.  I already said this on the girl board in answer to this question. I think having a wife is going to be a mixed blessing because I'm very independent.  In terms of marriage, guys will still hang out with the guys and girls the same.  Plus there is always work and drinking which can keep you sane.
