oldfield had a huge advantage, us throwers do those types of lifts all the time.  Lou as a bber, most likely did little to none of those types of movements.

In pumping iron he does 225 for a few half reps.

Exactly. Probably if it was a bench press competition, probably Lou would have won...

Embarassingly bad form by Ferrigno, like he'd never picked up a weight before. Dangerous in fact.

A reminder how impressive Oldfield was; now he's completely forgotten. 30 years ago he threw the shot just a few inches short of the current world record now. The pro track & field circuit he was on really wasted his talent, didn't pay much and prevented him from competing in subsequent Olympics or getting exposure in football or wrestling.

Only to scream Arnold's name just to try and do 'em.
Poor Louie... Arnold really got to his head.

there is no way lou could compete with oldfield in bench. no way.

It just doesn't seem that lou knows how to perform a proper jerk at all, if he did, no doubt he would have been way more competetive, But his explosive ability won't compare to a man who can throw a 16lb shot put 75 feet.

I'd say he's been performing as a proper jerk for some time.  :(

is that actually true? lots of people tell me he is very rude in person.  Of course I meant jerk as the olympic lift  :)
