I don't know.  My guess is that Bush is probably the most hated person in the world.  Or bin laden.

Or, maybe it's reversed.  I honestly don't know.  one of the talking heads on hardball suggested Bill Clinton was the most popular man in the world, and I wasn't sure that was true.  Figured someone here would have an educated guess, or maybe some polling data.

My guess is that Nelson Mandela is by far the most popular person in the world.

The least popular...

It really sucks to admit it, but your guess of GWB is probably right. Kim Jong Il would beat him if he were more known, others too.

But GWB is currently a problem for the USA.

IMO, I believe that most people around the world for some reason are able to keep the President and the country separated. Which is strange, I don't really have a guess as to why either - perhaps it's been caught up internationally that Bush has a fairly low support for his recent actions?

I really think we can see it a lot - people in the middle east hating Bush, but very seldom hating USA. It wasn't like that 3-4 years ago. The burning of the American flag doesn't seem to happen too often either, but rather burning of various portraits of Bush.

There is a shift IMO.

As this country goes,

Hugo Chavez and his giving of heating oil to low income families in this country,

Most hated, I go for Dick Cheney,.  He is the power behind the throne.
His smirks and sneers.  You just know he wanted to have his shotgun at the ready.

It was amusing watching him and Pelosi during the speech.  They were like two kindergartners sharing snacks and not snitching to the teacher on each other.

Youtube it and watch their body movements during the first 20 minutes of the speech.  Turn the volume down and just watch those two as Bush is speaking.  It is a Monty Python/Saturday night live skit.
I couldn't focus on what BUSH was saying due to the attics going on over his shoulder.
I was laughing until tears rolled down.  Pelosi and the lip biting, Cheney snacking...
And the shot of Mcain sleeping, Priceless.

Next to Jesus I would believe that. He did alot of good in the world. Made a few mistakes but so does everyone.

I was under the belief that with all the great things we're doing in iraq, he'd be the most popular.

I believe the TROOPS believe they are.  But I also believe the people in DC are using that as the front for the oil securement and war maintenance.  Tony snow (white house speaker) said last night that we cannot leave Iraq because terrorists will take the world's second largest oil reserve.  But um, war's not about oil, huh?  We're taking it so they can't.  period.  To believe the liberation of iraqis is first, and oil is secondary is moronic on your part.  We've been plotting on that oil for 15 years.  The "liberation' part is much newer.

Think for a second.  We've had a stalemate for 2 years with current troop ratios.  So what do they plan for the next 5 years?  15% increase each year for 5 years.  Same rate the insurgents are coming in.

That's planning to fail, bro.  Sorry, but they're pwning the troops because war is profitable.  They arent' winning, yet they aren't changing anything.  3000 dead is an acceptable loss to them.  Sorry, it's fcked up, but it's true.  It's a maintenance war.

I'm sorry you don't feel the same way.

You've critisised Bush for going into Iraq And also in this thread, you've guessed that Bush perhaps may be the most hated person:
I don't know.  My guess is that Bush is probably the most hated person in the world.  Or bin laden.

Or, maybe it's reversed.  I honestly don't know.  one of the talking heads on hardball suggested Bill Clinton was the most popular man in the world, and I wasn't sure that was true.  Figured someone here would have an educated guess, or maybe some polling data.

Now you're saying it's great being there?

With all due respect.. C'mon mate, cut the fcukin' crap.

Why not try to be a straight shooter? Nothing wrong with that.

I respect you for being a curious individual. I think you make good points at times, recently more so than before, especially now since you've moved on from the CT to real world politics and shyte.

But show some integrity, be honest about your own opinion on issues. Just my opinion of course.

You're only doing yourself a disservice by trying to play the devil's advocate so to speak, since it makes you look like, in worst case, a liar, in best case, very uneducated and undecisive.

In other words: You're not fooling anyone.

And one more thing, in the words of Chris Rock, or rather Ni***rs (watch the clip big_mal linked): "Keep it Real!!!" 8)

Take care,

find where i have stated that liberation is first and oil is second.  i never typed it, said it, or even thought it.  it's moronic on your part to think i have.
all those reasons can be debated till pigs fly.  and what you say is probably true.  but i can't debate the reasons why we went there.  we are there.  to keep bringing up the same jargon about why the US is even there serves no point.
these dopes in congress need to come up with the best way to sustain that country besides arguing about the president.  that's not going to get us anywhere.  and more guys will die.

i thought bush made a good point in his speech when he said this is not the war we wanted but it's the war we're in.
do you agree??

But the new policy - 21,500 now and 92k over 5 years - that's 15% annual increase to match insurgent surge.

Bush's plan is the old plan.  Identical force-to-enemy ratios.

It doesn't matter what "the dopes in congress" come up with - Bush has already said he'll veto anything that stops his surge plan.  He has said he'll run his own plan even if 99% of Americans are against it.  And, his plan is mathematically THE SAME THING HE"S BEEN DOING FOR 2 years.

I mean shit, man...

my point was that you knew exactly where this thread was headed with the topic.
or maybe you honestly thought no one would mention bush.

ok, my guess.  if it matters.

most popular....... i'd say princess diana.  even now
least........bush or bin laden

different tactics now will be used.  from what we've been told anyway

you and i discussed this before.  doesn't matter how many US soldiers you send in, it's what you allow them to do.

i promise you this.   if there is no change in violence in 6 months, then i will completly jump on your wagon.

1. They have used this same tactive every 6 months for the last 30 months.  "We're going to adjust tactics and finally have success!"

2. They intentionally never give us a quantifiable list of goals, nor any kind of goal date, as you normally see in military operation plans.  Military people call this odd - normally there is a timeline but Bush doesn't put one in.

3. Gen Praetus is another in a revolving line of generals who won't admit we're currently losing and won't put any numbers on his expectations.  When a military planner won't give you any numbers, be wary...

4.  Think about it.  Defense contractors make tens of millions of dollars a day in profits every day this war is dragged out.  To them, are 4 US lives a day worth 20 million a day?  Defense contractors lead generals who lead the white house - this is long and widely known.

Misstating the facts again.  He called for increasing the size of our armed forces by over 90,000, not the size of the force in Iraq by over 90,000.

Not sure how popular he is, but he has one of the most incredible stories I've ever read.  To go from spending nearly three decades in prison to president of the country is just amazing.  His auto "Long Walk to Freedom" is a beautiful story.  (Sits on my office shelf.   :))
