Most guys on here seem to like weight training, nutrition, adding muscle size etc but think bodybuilding as a "sport" is gayer than a dvd boxset of queer eye for the straight guy.Discuss

Chess, dart throwing and syncronised swimming are counted as sports. If so i say bodybuilding makes the list. Being musclebound would be a test of anyones endurance, bluto need not worry, he needs 100lb's of mass yet before he's muscle bound at 215lb  :D

So you think oiled up men, posing for a large male audience in a thong is respectable Chick?

For me pro bodybuilding died as a sport somewhere round the year 2001, but I still respect bodybuilding as a sport and as a means to build, not only ones body, but confidence, mind, personality, etc.

I dont think anyone questions that part, Im talking about when the money gets involved, the politics of pro level, the audience of pro level, the "way" the pros have to make money to survive etc. The things you described I cringe to term under the name "bodybuilding" as it taints it too much.

I've trained and competed for 28 years...never once have I worn a "thong" on stage.

I've also been to hunderds of BB shows, both amateur and professional...I would say the crown is 50/50.

Of course they have, as glute developement became a means to indicate conditioning, the trunks got smaller to reflect it...times change.

Whats your point?

It's lack of minimum comon sense to associate individual problems with the sport. Bodybuilding as any other sport has individuals with high and low moral values.

No other reason I can think of....
What's the reasoning behind football pants getting smaller and tighter?

Baseball....went from big old baggy pants, to skin tight spandex-like pants...

Again...whats your point?

I disagree, the gay image has been played up by practically every BB that I have seen in 1 form or another.

The same reason that 100 metre runners have it done too, Aerodynamics, why Chick do BB need to make use of Aerodynamics?

Exactly, the fact Bob isnt willing to admit to this shows how large the problem is considering his candidness on most other aspects.
