Contests are not judged solely on how big someone is, or just one thing. It's ALL the things combined (when the contest is properly judged that is).
Dillet couldn't pose worth shit,he would shake if he could hold the pose for more than a second,  he was known to take too many diuretics which would flatten him out if not just make him become a living corpse getting carried offstage, and he had no back and certainly what he had he could NOT pose it for shit. How was his presentation? There was a competitor that I saw that had zero back onstage once. In the mandatories, he stood out like a sore thumb for not having any back. But in his solo posing, he looked good. Why? Because he didn't hit a single back pose, which hid this major flaw.
Presentation, muscularity, symmetry, conditioning....many things just from "being huge" are factored into whether someone wins a contest or not.

Very very long-winded way of trying to explain away Dillet's dominance & politics.

don't buy into the 'photoelectric effect' that the nuthuggers apparently subscribe to ::)  EVERYONE will look better in real life. Including dorian's competition that in many shots already looks better on camera and on video (although they were smaller). Dorian has no magical properties that are unique to him and no one else, although ND and co would like us all to accept this fact ::)

I know that this may or may not be conventional wisdom but having the best set of arms does win Olympias.  Ask Lee Priest he would have 10 of them by now if that was the case.  Dorian was the hardest trainer had the best conditioning and most dominant back.  Dont turn this into the truce thread part two. Dorian was a great champion and once again like said earlier by me he taught the world how to train AGAIN.

Dorian's style caused him to tear major bodyparts very early on in his career.

I'm not conviced it was the best way to go for this reason.

Obviously, it worked for him.

but the tradeoff was that he came in looking like this:

dorian had great abs, but no one has a better midsection than shawn ray.

ps I love how you have to imply that its 'pic quality' that is why dorian is getting owned or looks bad in a lot of shots.

he looked good in 93.
