Is the peanut butter put up by the store? Or an independent merchandiser? If it's the former, than you would probably get a free gift certificate for $100 from Wal-Mart, but that's about it.
Generally what happens when there is a recall of any sort, the store/company notifies it's workers to keep an eye out for the offending lot number or bar code. If/when the employee sees the item, they're supposed to pull it from the shelves, and mark it for pick-up or throw it in the trash (each store will handle each item differently). So the shelves are rid of the product and nobody else is hurt from the product.
Now, when was the recall announced? If you bought the jars 3 months ago, and the recall was just announced last week, then you will probably just get the product replaced or receive a refund. But if the recall was 3 months ago, and you bought the jars last week, then you will probably get something from the store.
If you didn't get sick, and you get something of value out of it (the aforementioned gift certificate or maybe a free lunch etc...), feel lucky. No reason to have to sue for something so benign- and you said you never got sick, so you really have no case.
