According to the NABBA rules if I were to compete in the Mr Universe I would be considered a professional.

In 1970 there was only the IFBB in Canada so anyone who competed had to 'join' the IFBB. It was all just a formality. Promoters had to pay the IFBB to hold contests. It was the first time that title was held in Vancouver and we had only one guy from Quebec and no one from Ontario. Obviously it was a watered down field. We had another contest that day for the Pacific Northwest but again, few good bodybuilders came up from Washington State.

Did you compete in the NABBA Mr. Universe? If no, then you're not a professional, unless I'm missing something.

Did you compete as a pro or amateur in the IFBB?

Goodrum you are the guy who posted here that you took some animal products that some vet got you and then you concocted the chemicals and self-administered them. You then suffered some side effects and didn't get an anabolic effect according to what you posted. Is that what they taught you to do in that sports nutrition course?

A charlatan is someone who believes he knows a lot when in fact he is not an expert at all. You may well be qualified to practice in your state but you are hardly qualified to even make yourself grow nor appear on stage in what others call contest condition. The whole of Getbig knows the truth about you. Stop making threats that you have no substance about. I will put my BA, DipEd, and MEd up against your meagre certificates. Plus, I have owned a gym for 36 years and was a PE teacher for 10 years. Whatever have you done or achieved in education re physiology or anything else?

Years ago, 1985, in NSW a gym chain called John Valentine collapsed and the labour government set up a committee to try to regulate the industry. From those times a couple of groups have offered fitness leader courses. Later some Techs offered courses for instructors. Well, I have had several of those graduates at my gym. Most are not qualified to instruct advanced people and I would not hire them without first teaching them more about how to instruct. Just because someone gets a certificate or two doesn't make them qualified. The governments are simply people who appoint or employ someone to monitor those industries and set up standards. Can anyone who has reached a high standard in bodybuilding honestly accept that Techs and short courses are going to properly train instructors to be professionals? That isn't going to happen. In most professions one needs at least 4 years of specialized training and education to be qualified. Gym instructors and personal trainers think they are experts in a very short time. Some might be but the vast majority are not.

I have told Goodrum that I can teach the people who give these courses. He scoffed at me. What would he know, anyway? But that is the truth. I am a teacher and I know a bit about the profession of owning a gym and preparing instructors.

Well, Melvin, obviously these forums are getting to you. My advice is not to hang around them that much. There is so much negativity here. I will try to refrain from mentioning you in my posts. However, I will still respond to your threads if you make ridiculous statements.

Did you know that IQ in photography refers to Image Quality? That is much easier to talk about than the mental ability score.

Vince....any "Average Joe" can run a gym or did you not see the movie Dodgeball.  Heck, ask Bob Chic, he was in it after all.

If me and you were personal trainers in a gym, I would get a lot more clients than you.  No-one would want some withered up old crow telling stories about bodybuilders long before they were even born regardless of your certifications.  I was a successful trainer because I'm a good salesman...period.

BTW, fuck John Valentine

You know Vince, I'm getting a little sick and tired of your slander against me and my company.  I would suggest weighing your words more cafefully since I do have a business license in Australia and can take legal action for libel.

Vince what is your Federal ID in Australia and what isthe company name.  SHould not be a problem giving us that info since it is public.

First time I have pics of Moore.  And I gotta say he is better built than 90% of the guys on here.  And unless you show your pic then he is defintely better built than you.  No matter how much you say no.  Cause it is simple, if you are willing to show your pic then you have at least a good enough body.  I mean hell Apenis shows his pic and he looks shitty but he still looks better than most probably.  The concentration camp look isn't something that appeal to most but he is happy with it.

I come to Getbig to find out about contests and some gossip about bodybuilders. Other than that it is often amusing to read some of the threads.

I seldom attack anyone here. Sure I might target someone for a bit of fun. Believe me I am going easy on them. Who needs too much seriousness on a bodybuilding board. Some guys taunt me but I can selectively ignore people and then they will be seen as persistent jerks who are plain nasty.

Some guys haven't done much with their bodies. Well, we can all appreciate a great gal even if we could never get her. Same goes for bodies. Just because someone is a beginner or looks ordinary doesn't mean they can't be right about the physiques of others. In that regard we are all equal as far as opinions go. Some might consider that more experienced guys should count for more. Well, that might be true but not always.

When the fun stops then I don't find participating either amusing or beneficial.

I know most of you can't see my sense of humour but I like making fun of realities and foibles. Must be my upbringing in Canada and watching comics on the Ed Sullivan Show.

I can't recall knocking anyone's business in this thread. I do comment on personalities and qualifications. They are not a business but aspects of a person.

I smile when I see that Melvin boasts he could get more clients than me. Well, I doubt he can get many from Getbig whereas several people have asked me for information. I don't sell my professional advice so no one can hire me. I do give my advice to selected people who I choose might profit from what I know. In ancient Greece Socrates called those who could make themselves look qualified as Sophists. Looks like the art of sophistry is alive and well in the iron game.

Mr. Michael Moore owned Vince, he put the old blabbering man in his place. Sad to say but Vince is starting to come off as an arrogant kind of guy who thinks he knows all and sees all. Sorry to break it to ya oldtimer but you don't have to be an expert or have any kind of credentials to get big and look good.
