I got a new laptop coming on Monday or Tuesday. Is has Vista Premium preloaded in it. WHat do you guys think about it. Looks pretty cool.

Friend of mine has it and he loves it.He does a lot of bootleg dvd's and PS2 games.He said with xp,while he was burning a dvd he could do almost nothing else...with vista he can do anything while he is making dvd's.His pc has dual core processor and microsoft recomended 2 GIGS OF RAM for each.I was going to buy it but decided it best to wait until I need a new computer and just get it then....give it time for them to work out the bugs.

I've used the lite version and the business version. I'm running the business version right now. It's decent, I'm not overwhelmed. . I still prefer the latest versions of XP Pro, I just downloaded a version called "XP Black" that's pretty nice.

Vista does look pretty impressive - I'm waiting on a couple more paydays til I can go out and buy me a new machine. My computer's nearly five years old now so it's about time. Got my eye on that Geforce 8800GTX graphics card too.

microsoft = a SHIT product with millions spent on marketing..

unix = a MUCH superior product with nothing spent on marketing but STILL keeps up..

microsoft = changes shit around every few yrs JUST so people have to upgrade..ie $$$

unix = not many changes made yr to yr cause its a solid product

microsoft = GUI based..ie for idiots ( click here is you r an idiot..click there if you r a moron)

GUI = Graphical User Interface - Think of Windows

CLI = Command Line Interface - Think of DOS

graphic user interface= yanno..to do this./.click here..to do that..click here....and then it asks ya a million times if you r sure ya wanna do this..

command line interface = cli = ya type it in..it assumes ya know what u r doing..

a browser works at layer 7 dumbass..you could have a cli based machine and a browser built in..

So do you practice what you preach? Linux is easy to turn into CLI only. Please don't tell me you're an hypocrite and use a GUI? Are you on Windows?

with a ccie lets say you're making 95k/yr...then ya add in the contract work on the side..or teaching..and you r easily in the 150k range..

and when i say work..i mean take a few hours out of your time here n there to do some quick configurations on some equiptment and charging an arm and a first born for it

Well I got my computer yesterday. The Vista is so far nice looking. Going to get used to though. I really don't like Explorer 7 though. I can't transfer my Favorites files over to the new computer. It also has finger print reader. Thats relly neat but have to figure out what to do with it.The sound os great and the screen (17") is really clear and sharp. So far so good.

Install Firefox and use it instead of Explorer, it's much better.

Just setup a simple home network between the two computers and you can share anything you want between them. It should take you about 20 minutes and you can swap files back and forth all you want.
