Lee Priest has admitted he wants to come back to the IFBB on his own free will and will do so when his suspension is up this fall. We will be posting Lee's video confession of why he will return to the IFBB. Lee mentioned he will attempt to be in the 2007 Olympia. Lee also agreed he will pay his own way as he still owes the ticket to AMI should he qualify.

Here's the way I see it.  The only person that really gets off on Lee's middle-finger bullshit is LEE.  But when he's looking good, kicking ass in shows, and making bad-ass training vids, we don't seem to mind as much.  And depending how cool the package he presents in every aspect of his being appears to us, we might even add a little drama ourselves to sweeten the pot for good ol' Lee in hopes that he'll make the most of it for us.  Joining the PDI didn't make the most of it for us...he presented nothing there that we haven't seen before nor was it equal to his best showings...so the breakdown is basically Lee's being afforded the opportunity to play whatever caricature he so chooses in this circus called bodybuilding to the hilt, and we get what really matters most to us, the inspiration his physique and attitude grants to us, provided Lee focuses his efforts where they most should be:  IN THE GYM AND IN THE PROFESSIONAL REPRESENTATION OF THE IFBB.

It's not the IFBB's responsibility to look after them.  Ideally, members of that organization should have every tool available to them to do just fine for themselves.  What does the IFBB represent?  It was originally created as a formal collective body that would help espouse it's ideals to the world.  Joe Weider believed (and I'm sure he still does) that the personal code of conduct necessary to meet the IFBB judging panel's set of standards was the personal code of conduct that could save humanity from itself.  These views are fundamental to understand what the IFBB actually is.  With little exception, I believe the IFBB to have done a pretty good job all these years of having maintained a consistent standard of excellence relative to whatever has been the competitive field.  This is the first contest season I have seen since 2002 or maybe 2003 where it can be said that the field has generally shown progress in getting back to where they need to get back to for the sport to have a much easier time respecting itself again.  I wanna give the guys onstage at the Ironman and Arnold this year props for doing their part.  Getbig barely had anything to talk about following the Ironman guys, and it's because most of those competitors came in with alot of their best.

The IFBB may be evil, but it's not stupid. It knows it needs marquee names. And like him or not, a marquee name is exactly what Lee Priest is. One might even say - after 3 bowls of weed perhaps - occasionally "magic"...




So now that the IFBB has re-established their dominance with the suspension, I'm sure they'll be willing to talk business with him. They probably won't be willing to pay as much as before - but they'll probably come up with a number Lee can grudgingly live with.

The IFBB does not pay Lee, he pays them for a pro card every year.  sponsors and promotors pay the athletes.

Getting one's IFBB pro card is akin to being knighted by royalty.  From then on you are the IFBB and the IFBB is you.  If you ever wanted to be a member of the IFBB and was able to do what it took to enter it's ranks, you are only letting yourself down when you do not represent the sport to the highest degree of professionalism you are capable.  Those who condone such behavior, such as Muscular Development, are a poison to the sport.  Steve Blechman is bad for bodybuilding.  Just because he gives away $60,000 contracts doesn't mean he's doing anybody, including the pros cashing the checks, any favors.

I met Lee two weeks ago at a local eatery close to the gym. I was hesitant to strike up a conversation with him but introduced myself anyway. Needless to say, Lee was extremely friendly as we talked about his racing and bodybuilding careers. Although not in contest shape, he wasn't anywhere close to being as fat as a house. His arms are huge.

I don't know, but he didn't seem to me like he was headed for an implosion. The guy seems to have his stuff pretty well put together. Seemed very nice and humble.

Exactly.  Anyone you see at the top of the sport isn't fucking up too very much ANYWHERE.  And if they're fucking up ANYWHERE in their life, it is reflected in their physique onstage.  In this way, winning an IFBB show is very much evidence of a very righteously-lived life.
