What's the big deal?  We'll just have to wait a few more months before all those nervous D.C. people are outed.

Maybe exposing certain people on the list would be too much of an embarrassment to their political careers and potentially ruin them along with many others by mere association.

People in all fields have their careers hurt when it comes out that they have been paying for sex.  And rightfully so.

People in DC have a higher standard for ethics also, like many careers (teaching, police, etc).

Let the info come out, and run the exposed thru the wringers.  If they commit crimes and ethics violations, their constituents should know.

Dems and Repubs should unite on this.  If there is a scumbag in your ranks, you should want the bastard OUT.

remember when this started to break in the news?  I like how it quietly went nowhere too...

"FBI agents are investigating what happened in the hotel's posh suites, which defense contractor Brent Wilkes turned into party suites for politicians and CIA officers. There was poker and cigars, and the FBI wants to know if there were prostitutes, too." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12634250

this will never go to trial, this record will never be made public.  I'm taking bets if anyone wants in.  These names in her report will never be known.  The gag is the short term pause so they can remove the problem, however they see fit.  A deal, or something else, who knows.  That phone list will never be known.

if it were to become public, I think it would hurt Republicans more than Democrats.

Democratic voters are far less self-righteous (on the whole) than Democratic voters, and for the most part don't care if their representatives are paying for sex in their private lives, ...as long as they get the job done in their public lives. Republicans on the other hands want their representatives to remain abstinent, ...except the one or two times required to produce a couple of progeny... then no more sex.  >:(

Yeah, Bob Dole never struck me as the love-machine type.

Yeah, Bob Dole never struck me as the love-machine type.

Bob Dole has admitted to having suffered from erectile dysfunction for many many years,
...but I don't think even the Viagra helped him... no wonder he was always so angry.  :'(

I don't think Republicans on the whole could be considered "love machines"

I never thought Bob Dole had a sense of humor until I saw him on Saturday Night Live. If I remember correctly he was pretty funny.

Or maybe that was just Norm McDonald doing his immitation that I remember.

When did they start calling impotence "erectile dysfunction"?

Around the time garbagemen asked to be called "sanitation engineers"?

Don't you think "erectile dysfunction" is a better term to decribe Dole than "impotent"?
Afterall, doesn't impotence implies an overall inadequacy, which Dole didn't have? From my understanding,
it was just his penis that didn't function as it should. Therefore, ...it's erectile dysfunction.

Now if we were referring to Bush, ...then I'd say the term "impotent" best describes him.
He just can't seem to get anything to function right.  :-\

Poppycock.    :D  ::)  What in the world does being "self righteous" have to do with obeying the law?

Everything. For the longest time, there were and continue to be laws tha dictate certain sex acts as illegal.
There are some laws that most people consider archaic and don't give a rip if they are broken.
Laws concerning the regulation of sex between two or more consenting adults often fall within this area.

As such, I believe that even if it is proven that this was an "illegal" prostitution ring, I believe far fewer Democratic voters would be as up in arms than Republican voters would. However, as a service that lists itself as a "fantasy" fulfillment escort service, it could get extremely sordid if along with the client list, she revealed their particularly unique pecadillos, and fetishes.  :D  I'm sure the politician who is pleasured by prancing around dressed as a little girl in frilly panties sucking on a giant lollipop ala Jonathon Winters might find the disclosures a tad more embarrasing than the ones who simply wanted to relieve a little beltway stress in the conventionally accepted way. Considering this is DC, ...I'm guessing alot of these guys were probably very heavily into BDSM with an emphasis on the B & M.

Good guess.

It's well documented: Powerful men are far more likely to find sexual pleasure in being dominated by a woman.

Yep, ...men who are used to wielding enormous power in their day-to-day lives are most often susceptible to this particular fetish. You can always tell the impotent little geeks by the offense they take at being bested by a woman, or by their need to dominate or demean women. It's like a glaring neon sign. Guys with power never mind sharing it or giving it up for a moment or two when dealing with the opposite sex, ...infact, they enjoy it.  :P

I tend to think anyone, regardless of party, who is concerned about whether their elected officials obey the law, even archaic ones, would have a problem with someone who uses prostitutes.

I don't see Democrats rushing to try and legalize prostitution.

So much for the "gag" order.

Alleged D.C. madam shares client records
POSTED: 10:22 p.m. EDT, March 12, 2007
Story Highlights• Escort service-owner will release "all phone records, logs and invoices"
• Released to "one of the most ... respected investigative news organizations"
• Identity of news organization not released
• Deborah Palfrey, 50, pleaded not guilty Friday to federal racketeering charges
Adjust font size:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The former owner of a Washington-area escort business said she reached a deal to share her records of up to 15,000 client phone numbers with a media organization.

"I have decided to hand over all phone records, logs and invoices (including those presently unknown to the government) to what I believe to be one of the most reputable and respected investigative news organizations in the country, to assist me with my needs," Deborah Jeane Palfrey, 50, wrote in an e-mail to WTOP Radio.

She did not identify the news organization or give details of the arrangement. Palfrey's civil attorney, Montgomery Blair Sibley, would not say whether his client was getting paid, or if she was simply getting investigative assistance with uncovering the names associated with the phone numbers.

Palfrey ran an upscale escort service in the Washington area from her Vallejo, California home for 13 years, until August 2006. Her assets were frozen in October after an Internal Revenue Service investigation, and she pleaded not guilty Friday to federal racketeering charges in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia.

The list currently has only telephone numbers, but Palfrey and her attorney have been negotiating with about a dozen serious bidders for the list, Sibley said.

"The records needed and need to be mined for potential defense witnesses, in the criminal and civil cases currently pending against me," Palfrey wrote in the e-mail.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office said prosecutors could not comment because of the pending indictment.

Palfrey said that in her time operating the business, she used discretion and confidentiality about who her clients were. But now, with her assets frozen by the government, she said she needs to leverage the list to help with her defense. Her attorney indicated they will search for individuals who can testify that contact with escorts and clients was legal.

Palfrey was released after her arraignment and must wear an electronic monitoring device.

Gag Factor is one of the best movie series I've seen.

Will never forget when I saw Gag Factor 3, it was a revelation, even though the sound is a bit messed up.

1) Hedge is right about the GF.

2) NOW the real test of media integrity comes into play.  If Prison Planet (and other media not owned y the Big 5 corporations) reports on this list - but CNN won't touch it - well, it will really show media bias.  This IS a huge story - If the people we elect are committing crimes while making decisions about our safety and tax dollars - that is a problem.

I hope the media does the right things and reports on it.
