Ok, the guy is serious. He has emailed me in the past on this issue, and since that site does help and wants to promote bodybuilding in a positive way, he is asking for help, which I am granting him.

Are you a bodybuilding fan, or strictly a contributor to Wikipedia?  If you knew this crowd you wouldn't ask that question, so be more patient if you really want responses that you're gonna care about.  Also, not everyone that might be interested in giving you information for their entry is gonna open a thread on a bodybuilding forum labeled generically "Attention all bodybuilders."  I think you might wanna change the thread title to something like, "Bodybuilding On Wikipedia," or something to that effect...something more relevant.  If you want the most responses to your query, then hope a meaningful discussion gets going about it in this thread, which is the only thing that will keep it bumped, and it'll also help allow the pros more time to see it and understand the importance of it.

Actually, there's a couple of guys on here that might be interested in compiling this info as a service to the pros to give to you FOR THEM.  Much like a PR person does for notable personalities in other interest groups and sports/entertainment genres.

Yes. You might be right. I changed the title. I'm going to take the initiative to start a discussion.

Let's start with the Markus Rühl Wikipedia article.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markus_R%C3%BChl

Someone give me some ideas on how this might be improved. Provide sources also and you can also write out what you think could be added.

Who you need to convince of the value of these bodybuilding Wikipedia entries are the same people in the industry behind-the-scenes that do all the other promotions for the guys/gals that actively participate in the sport.  If you do that, your job is done here and you'll have a steady stream of people's entries coming to you from a select few sources because someone or a few someones competent and motivated enough to specialize in this would eventually step up and start contacting the pros for you on an individual basis and tell them what's up and get what you need from them.  They could charge a fee for this service.  Rob or Matt C might be interested.

You've publicized that the bodybuilder articles on Wikipedia could use improvement. The few us of here who would make good contributors will probably pitch in a little - if they haven't already done so in the past. So you've accomplished all you're going to.

The schoolmarm tone will not help. Trust me.

Do a Wikipedia search on anybody hot in entertainment right now and you'll see just how much time and attention to detail is given their entries.  I'm talking about daily revisions, based on like, what happened last night.  The world has started to depend on Wikipedia as the most concise and at the same time, comprehensive reference source in the modern day world.  Right behind Google maybe, but if you wanna know about somebody do Wikipedia first.  It's got what you wanna know.

That's why I thought the Bodybuilders themselves might want to provide a good picture for their article and take a look at the article to see if everything is correct. Wikipedia discourages individuals editing their own articles for ethical reasons but that's why I'm here.

This question should've probably been in your first post.  Right when I read why you're here, I laughed and thought, "this is going to be good!"

You might get some people to offer help... most of the folks in the industry read this board even if they don't post, but the majority of the posters will give you shit to see how long it takes for you to melt down.  Think of it as an initiation for all noobs.  ;D

I don't "melt down". Wost thing that result from my getting no help here is I take it to another message board. That's assuming I don't just cut my loses(time wise) and let the articles stay the way they are.

Hey just a head's up for you guys...this Wikidudeman was apparently just randomly assigned bodybuilding by Wikipedia, which means, he probably has no alterior motives here.  I think he's rubbing people the wrong way because we suspect he's a schmoe trying to make it sound like he's doing the industry a favor.  If he were a schmoe, there'd be no real favor involved, as he gets to interact with the bodybuilders.  But my source tells me he really doesn't know anything about bodybuilding, so this guy really is uninitiated here.

IMO, it would greatly behoove the industry to utilize the service this guy has to offer.  If you're an IFBB Pro, enter your name into Wikipedia and see what comes up.  It could probably represent you so much better, is all I'm saying.  Wikipedia's a pretty good "Who's Who" indicator these days so I think people should respect it.

This isn't technically correct. I decided to improve the Bodybuilding articles because no one else was really working to improve them.

it's not accurate Danielson, according to that he would be 35 years old, he's definitely got to be in his mid-late forties. ;)
