(CBC) Four young men face charges after an unconscious 16-year-old Mississauga girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in a gang-style attack recorded on cellphone cameras, police say.
The girl passed out at a home on Parkwest Place on Feb. 25. When she woke up the next morning, she went home, unaware of what had happened, police said.
She later learned of the alleged assault when she heard rumours at her high school of video and photos recorded on cellphones, police said.
"The images made their way around. They basically got out into the public and into the school, where information got back to the victim," said Peel region police Const. Sean Piper.
Police have seized cellphones as evidence and are still trying to determine what caused the girl to pass out.
The victim went to Chantel's Place, a medical facility for victims of sexual assault, for treatment of "minor physical injuries," police said.
Police search for other possible victimInvestigators believe another young woman may have been victimized in the same way.
The four accused, who have been in custody since their arrest Sunday, appeared in a Brampton courtroom Wednesday for bail hearings.
Three of the accused attend Cawthra Park Secondary School.
