it was the 90s.  the drugs were different then.  you could stay in competition shape for most of the year.  also, they use to have many more pro shows back to back (such as the Grand Prix tour across Europe).

He was holding his own pretty well in that side-by-side shot with Gustavo 18 months back when Gusto was top of the world. 

he's done 70+ shows, is very much still involved with the sport.

I have never liked special invites, unless they were reserved for someone who would have qualified if not for an injury or surgery, etc., or a legend of the sport.....
