Terrible music...Great lift...can't really see the correct weight but impressive either way.
Marunde is a strong guy, especially in the overhead pressing varieties.
Well...how long did DRAGO hold it at the top while the Russian media and his team of trainers clapped and cheared before he threw it down?
drago pressed it using only shoudlers, marunde push pressed it,doesn't gary taylor hold the world record for this?
hahahaha, do a little experiment, count off eleven seconds by saying one Mississippi, two Mississippi, etc. and then imagine holding a 500 pound barbell overhead for that long, crazy.
&mode=related&search=what do you think of this, looks like 405 to me but there could be an extra plate on there, amazing how long he holds it at the top.
yeah Gary was a beast on that movement but i gotta say that the way Marunde pushed that i think he could do 545 with a little time easily, i think Gary may have done a little over 500.
I can just deadlift 500...crazy to hold that weight above your head...
http://www.irishstrongman.com/legends/index.aspDuring 1994, Gary Taylor lifted 270kg (595lb) overhead, a new world record, but fate was unkind and he suffered a severe bicep injury which kept him out of some major contests. However, the fighting spirit which thrilled his many supporters was very much in evidence as he continued to win major contest and establish new records. I have been asked to referee Gary attempting a jerk from behind the neck with 272kg (600lb) for the Guinness Book of Records programme. This is still awaited as two severe injuries to arm and abdomen have taken their toll, and surgery has been necessary. At this time he is training heavy power cleaning up to 200kg and doing partial squats about 500kg for 15 reps! It looks likely that Gary will continue for quite some time giving pleasure to strength disciples the world over.595, I think taht is still the world record.
i've seen this guy in person at a couple of meets and he's not very thick or big, he's tall and wide as a barn door though, he shows off a lot with the posing and running around screaming but he is a strong fuccker.
Hey David do you remember the WSM contest where him and Joe Onasai went head to head in the push press, i think they both did over 500 that day.
It looks like 495, I played it over and over and counted 5 wheels!
