2008 BMW M3 Concept
« on: March 18, 2007, 06:20:49 PM »
Here ya go, the 2008 BMW M3 Concept. It has a 4+ liter V8, making 420+ HP, no real HP and torque figures have been released. It's true competitor is the Lexus IS-F which has a 5 liter V8, and no true HP and Torque figures have been released for that

It's yours for 75K.

But I'll take a 2003 BMW M3 in Leguna Seca Blue. Once this comes out the price will drop from around 45K for a 2005 E46 M3 to around 35K

Love it... The current m5 is a masterpiece of a car also.... Love The m series beemers, and amg/brabus benzes. Nothing like a low, fast, deep shell rimmed euro.................... ........

Supposedly it will go on sale this fall in Europe. But what is weird, is they call it the "concept". But all of BMW's concept's (the 2005 M5 and M6) looked the same as the production. With this concept, they put the E46 M3 CSL's wheels on this car, but all spy shots have some nice looking M wheels (black or dark grey).

As I stated both BMW and Lexus have not disclosed the HP and torque figures for their cars. And Lexus has not disclosed whether or not there will be a coupe version of their car, whereas BMW is getting ready a BMW M3 four door-there hasn't been a 4 door M3 since the E36 back in 1998.

Love the coupe. I drove one when it came out. The small twin turbos work amazing. My only grip is you cannot hear them spool up. But for no turbo lag that is a small price to pay. I adore m series beemer, and amg/brabus benzes.

I think that is a good thing, its a luxury/sports car---and has to maintain that. I wouldn't want my BMW sounding like a Evo (the BMW 335i uses Mitsubitshi IHI turbos).

But the real grip is that there are companies now that all they do is up the boost on the turbos and now the 335 coupe is making 400 pound feet of torque and 400+ HP. So, there are going to be tuners that are going be putting out cars that out perform the new M3 for half the price, with less work. I wished BMW could have seen this when they came out with the biturbo....

a BMW is the only car I could justifiably spend that sort of money on

perfect machines

I thought so too until i talked to my buddy's dad, who happens to work for BMW, and he had less that savory things to say about the cars, their reliability and that cost of constantly fixing them.  He said "about 60 percent are good cars and 40 % are like lemons, the company should NOT be letting that happen."

uyou have to understand these car's they are built and pushed sometim'e before all the kink's are out,the new breeds e60,e90,e65 3,5,7 series are all electrical issue's,how do u think all the tech's get paid it is not on all piece work,i have warranty position 60to 75 pct is warranty wk,they have to make a living.bumper to bumper is 4 year 50,000 and maintence 50,000 at least you don't need to worry about those issues ,brakes alone all around are about 1,200 .and if u have a certified plan it's 100,000 miles.and they have maintence extension to 100,000 .great car but some need tlc and when right is the "ultimate driving machine".keep the positive post's coming.

Which is one of the reasons why BMW/Mercredes  customers are going to Lexus. Better reliablity, plus the electronic bugs tend to worked out. Car magazine called the I the IDrive, IDistract, then ICrash. A attorny I know had a 745i, but the IDrive was fouled up, he got sick and tired of taking it to the dealership, that he traded it in for a Lexus GS430, and he about to get the LS460.

Exactly. Tell, do you think that with all the electronic do-dads on cars today (ex. PASM, Yaw Control, Traction Control) makes us better drivers? Or does all this Electronic Nannying makes us worse drivers because we depend on them? For instance, on my IS300, If I have the traction control on and take a hard corner, it will drop the revs, that is dangerous, when you have traffic behind you. Sometimes when I pull out from a corner, I turn the Traction control off, because of that. In the IS350 one could not turn the Traction control off, unless you went thru an elaborate defeat procedure.

And what is with BMW only putting LSD's in M car's? The 335i has 300 pound feet of torque, more than the E46 M3 that has a LSD.

Yawn...same old boring car.

I will take a Z06 all day, every day for less, and rape that M3 on the street, strip, or track.

I would too, but the Z06 is in another league. It is a true sports car, meant to take on the Ferrari F430, Lambo Gallardo, Murcielargo, Ford GT, the exotics. The BMW M3 is a Luxury sports car, with 4 seats. There is a certain emphasis on luxury. It goes against the Audi S/RS4, Mercedes C63 AMG, and the Lexus IS-F. All small lux sporty cars. And on the track the M3 has a history of battling the Porsche 911 RSR's.

I wish I had money >:(
