Possible Rule suggestion
« on: March 22, 2007, 06:03:24 AM »
Hi Bluto, Hi Danielson,

I'd like to propose a rule for posting here.

It's about spoilers.

Spoilers are sooooo uncool. Couldn't we make it so that if you're going to reveal a spoiler, you have to state it in the subject title, and put in a bunch of spaces before revealing the spoiler, so you don't inadvertently ruin it for someone else?

Just a suggestion.  :)

Absolutely. I hate spoilers  >:(

It should be part of the subject line clearly visible: SPOILER or *SPOILER* or something like that.

Someone who posts information about what happens on a show before you've had a chance to see it.   :P

whats a spoiler?

It's when some moron makes a post that reveals the outcome and/or suprise plot twists in a movie without showing any consideration for those who might not have seen it yet.

ie: The Passion of the Christ  (spoiler below)

Jesus gets crucified in the end. <--- That's a spoiler.

If you never saw the movie, or aren't familiar with the story, it tell ya the end.  :'(

I hate spoilers as well. My question would be, what about movies out on DVD? or perhaps on cable TV already. Do you guys still think we need warnings when talking about those? Just curious.

Of course!

There are only so many first run movies you can go see.
Plus, some people only wait til it comes out on DVD or cable.

Why go to the theatre, futz around with parking, only to squeeze into a seat that's way too small, you can't sip a glass of wine, or put your feet up... and there's always some idiot of a basketball player who needs to sit directly infront of you <grrr> blocking your view of the screen, ...and sometimes a film moves out of the theatre before you get a chance to see it.

It's always good to warn about spoilers.

That's why I put (spoiler below) next to the title,
...and all those spaces before the spoiler.

If ya didn't want to know how it ended ... you shouldn't have scrolled further.  :D

ps - That's how I felt when I saw the spoiler for "Departed"
I was literally 30 seconds away from pressing play when I saw that one. I was very impressed .... NOT!  :-\

Network Marketing...  *spoiler alert*

only works for a tenth of a percent of those who use it, and only in its beginning, and only for a short time period before the FTC gets involved

Bluto can you please make a sticky for a while about spoilers? I am pretty busy lately, plus you handle the stickys around here.
