Hehe. I get compliments all the time too. Did you ever notice that people always think your dog weighs more than he actually does? People at the vet will be like how much does he weigh, about 150? And I look at them with this very awkward stare like, "150, you are joking right?"
People don't really realize a big rottie until they see one. I thought Plato was big until I started his obedience class and now a dear friend of mine had a puppy 1 month younger, and much bigger. That puppy is now 28 inches at the shoulder and about 120lbs. His brother, from the same litter, is 130lbs and shorter. His head is gigantic. If you've seen photos of Wotan or the Jeneck's breeders dogs, thats what he looks like. Absolute god damn monster.
I couldnt care less about Plato's height/weight though, his personality is 100% Rottweiler. He was just neutered today so there is a possibility there'll be a slight change with his temperament. But, the only complaint I have with him is he has been very very dominant since the day we brought him home. Played dominance games like humping on almost everyone in the family until we nipped that in the bud. He is the classic case of a social climber. He will gladly take someone's spot in the house in the social hierarchy if they let him. He is very standoffish with new people, but once he gets to know you, hes a huge baby. As far as total strangers coming to the house go, lol, unless I or a family member escorts someone in or he knows them, you won't make it through the door. I like it though, because he is never "aggressive". If someone comes to the door he will stand about 20 feet away and just wait and get a vibe from them. If they walked in and started advancing towards him, he'd most certainly do something...this can be a gift and a curse, but hey, that is what he is supposed to do as long as he behaves when I say it is ok, which he does.
He is sleeping next to me right now I am glancing over every minute to make sure he isn't trying to lick his incision =P
