For the Southern Plantation owners to not go out of business, they would have had to industrialize like the North was doing anyway.

Best 400 meter sprinter is white (USA)
Best Long Jumper in the world is white. (Sweden)
Best High Jumper is white. (Sweden)
Best 110m Hurdles sprint is Chinese(!)

It depends on culture to a large degree. How many blacks do you see playing icehockey, how many blacks are swimmers, skiers, strongmen, fighters etc, the best are all white in these sports. While the opposite can be seen in basketball.
