because it's tv and not reality



(i think the writers tried answering this question in one episode by showing that he had a stash of dharma food and was gorging himself on peanut butter, etc.  he was angry at being put in charge of the food because he can't control himself)

ROFL  ;D A good question indeed!  That bitch should be a rail at this point if there were a hint of realism.  The producers by this point probably want to keep him fat because it's too deeply associated with his character.
