Never even heard of a hack deadlift. Is it a lot harder than normal deadlift?

But all it looks to be is a BB Hack squat, but he starts it like a deadlift instead of using a rack.

Nah it's an old school power movement.  There are a few of the "old school" weightlifters at my gym that do those.

I'll stick to the bloody shins though myself, thank you very much!!!
