Sorry to read about this Amy. I didn't even know about this board. I lost a pet last summer... it's VERY difficult to loose them.

Very nice STella... I always liked this one.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Simon looks like a troublemaker.  ;)

I'll bet he had 9 great years of mischief making.

Thank you all very much. I think the hardest part is not having the care schedule I had been doing with Simon.  Of course I still sit with Tino while he eats the chicken gravy I made, he used to dislike it but then it grew on him and at times I had to distract him from the bowl or he would of eaten it most of it instead of Simon!  I have left the blankets that him and Simon were sleeping in on the floor.  Simon hadn't been able to walk up the steps in the cage for some time (they are free roam in their own room but have a cage in there for their hammock and water bottles and food dish) so I had blankets down on the floor for him to snuggle in. Tino chose to sleep with him most of the time and he seems to still prefer to sleep there. I don't know if it is because he can still smell Simon or not.  But I am not ready to take them out and wash them yet and if they are helping him adjust then I definitely don't want to remove them.  He doesn't seem depressed but he has been more active and walking around more, is he looking for Simon, I don't know.  Some ferrets will pine away after the loss of a long time companion, they were together for 9 years, so I will have to see how Tino adjusts.

I could tell that the vet and the vet tech find these hard to do. I am very grateful to how they handled it and the respect and consideration.  I know it was very peaceful for Simon.  This is something that as a pet owner we all will have to go through, if you can, remember to let the vets know they made a difference in making a bad time a little better.

I will be on sporadically, this has set me back, and it is almost the end of the semester so I am trying to focus on school too.

But thank you to everyone for your words and support, and especially to those of you who went above and beyond.   It really means a lot.

   ~Amy~
