whats the deal with these EXPLOITATION movies?

i don't get it..whats their purpose anyways..to exploit wat?these days we are seeing more and more gore and guts movies..so does that mean all these movies are exploitation movies(hostel,saw series,final destination series etc)

It really is strange that in America they let just about all extremely violent movies through with just an R rating and yet when a movie has to much nudity or to many sexual situations it gets an automatic NC-17 rating or is not allowed to be released with a rating....Kinda makes you wonder what they would rather glamorize: Sex or Violence...Obviously violence
