JUst to tip in, when your having a cyber fight what other ammo do you use? you call them gay or fat or small or short or stupid. it's not like there was a normal conversation going on and someone started calling people gay. The only time you saw that was when someone was already in some long term back and forth with somebody and followed you to another thread or board to continue to poke you. Shit look at the Y they have a ton of good topics (girls/car/bikes/ect) but what normally happens is someone starts pissing and the next thing you know a cyber fight breaks out and there are a ton of threads back and forth. You would think that from the amount of bitching about it around here that it was all gay poetry and dress talk with a big fat side of cock. It takes two people to have a conversation for fuck sake.

Nothing generates more interest, intensity, tension and therefore, audience / fans / followers than conflict does.
In my case, thanks to the great Sarcasm, I already had everything started and established.
So I simply mentioned the word SQUAD everytime I could (The SQUAD actually translates in my mind as 'come check out the V' and stay and make it better and better), in the G&O and the Complaints (which are the only 2 other boards there that interest me vaguely). I made really good jokes and people started PMing me, saying they loved my joke and I sent them back an instant reply, inviting them to come try out the V for 1 week, even giving them the option of choosing whether they want to side with the SQUAD or against (bless those of you
), all of the time openly.
That's why activity picked up straightaway, at least 3 months after I took it over cause in those 3 months, I was busy networking and getting to know you guys and getting established and noticed, not to mention learn about the nature of the communication that's unique to message boards. Plus, I was learning how to write without going for a formal course. I don't think I've done a bad job TBH.
