Buckner was agood player. He is remembored for that one bad play. He was actually playing injured in that game on request of the manager. In reality he was a  good baseball player.

Correct.  Calvin S. should be the scapegoat, not Buckner.

Schiraldi sucked. Bob Stanley sucked. Too bad the Sox didn't have Papelbon in 1986!

I don't know how effective he would have been.  He was only six years old then.

He was a very good player. He just had ankles that were mush at that point. Two batting titles and 2750 hits aren't the product of a bad player. McNamara pulled him in the late innings all year for Benzinger. The game he doesn't do it he got burned big time.

I feel bad for the guy. Death threats, had to move to the other side of the country, the whole nine.

Not to go completely o/t here, but did you see that kid who was wandering on the sidelines of that college football practise and was injured by a player? maybe the coach thought letting his 2 year old kid walk around the endzone was a good idea with 200 lb athletes flying around.
