Monster ability of Christians to rationalize anything.

Its just a technicality Matt. Being hypocritical can be rationalised with this verse from the bible ( goes on to contradtic self with verse from Bible).

Just ask Dugdales wife. Steriods are not causing many bb's/lifters to have fertility/sexual problems...... Wicked, sinful, pornography is to blame! Yes she said that.

I know Mark reads this but...

On mayhem, Mark said that Christina was not afraid to give her opinion.  Yes - we all knew that.  Christina is only afraid of hearing anyone else's opinion who disagrees with her.  :)

It's hard to communicate much on a board where your posts will be blocked by people who don't agree with you, no matter how respectfully you may be.  Seems insecure to me, although I guess there is a fair amount of that in this industry.  People like Christina were the ones burning atheists at the stake back in the day under the guise of "being moral".  Christina is the type of Christian who would on one hand complain about the horrors of terrorism, in the comfort of living on a part of the globe where she will never be exposed to the psychological triggers which coupled with genetic predisposition would lead to that.

I remember reading in the paper of an older woman who was set in her ways and was complaining about all the people who didn't like Bush and his policies.  She said - "at least he has good morals."  Great.  So I can do pretty well any monstrosity known to humanity and as long as I believe in the Christian god, I automatically have good morals?  I can live the life of Ted Bundy and repent on my death bed and accept Jesus, and automatically I am "moral".

Last I checked, being moral meant being respectful and kind to others and not hurting anyone.  But that's just me?  :)

On the average, non-religious people are far and away more moral than religious people in all the ways that basically everyone (religious or otherwise) would agree truly defines morality.

Monster irony.  Monster fact.  :)

While the delivery of your thoughts is a mess, I agree with the sentiment. Good post.

I agree with you. I think Mark and his wife seem like very nice people. But when you start calling out other people on there personal beliefs, when you take illegal drugs for a living, the word "hypocrite" is bound to come up.

Ronnie had no lat, and no tricep.  Too bad God couldnt have given him those.  Thats soo dumb that you think he should win because he loves god.

You know its wierd that Vic Martinez keeps winning shows, for obvious reasons, God wouldnt like him

Yeah I know.  Religion falls apart, not just scientifically, but sociologically and psychologically too.

I'm not saying that there aren't people who may well be better off with religion - what I'm saying is that there would be MORE people better off if everyone on earth was not religious.

Kind of like comparing capitalism to socialism - sure socialism has benefits, but people are the most well off in more of a capitalist oriented society.  Or you can take democracy versus dictatorships.  Maybe some dictatorships do work - but the MOST good will come from democracy.  The most good in the world will come if everyone was not religious, in every possible way we can define "good".

Is it so hard to just admit we don't know anything about the universe and these questions religions claim to answer are unanswerable with any worldly tools we have and the entire series of questions are beyond our ontology to begin with?  ???  Is it ok to say "I don't know"?

Also, why would the Christian god give us a certain set of tools to observe the world, all of which point to him not existing at all?  How logical is it for a god to do that?  Speaking strictly in terms of logic, it is incredibly ridiculous that a god remains perfectly hidden yet insists that people follow him.  As always, Christians will find a (totally illogical) argument to refute that.

If you examine religion sociologically, you realize it was all founded on the basis of population control and getting money (power) for the church.  Now, whether the Christian god exists or not, it doesn't make what I'm saying wrong.  Logically, what I'm saying still holds and the Christian god may full well exist, but that doesn't change the facts as we observe them.

Also, Mark and people like Mark do appear to be better off with religion, but Mark has a lot of material wealth in his life which makes him happy.  I would like to see how happy religion would make him if he was living in a cardboard box on the streets or living in a country where he was being shot at.  I don't like that families like his teach their children religion before they have developed the intellectual capacity to examine the issues critically and think about it for themselves.  I could teach children to become terrorists and with their developing brains, they could easily latch on to those beliefs.  I find it immoral and unfair to indoctrinate young people in that kind of way.  But on the other side of the coin, I do feel people should be able to raise their own children.

A nicely written piece Matt.

As humans, we are vulnerable.  Religion gives hope to many.

The belief that there is something more.  That their life on Earth will mean something, much greater and more profound.  That after they die, they will transcend to some magical utopia.

I believe that there is just one life.  And that we only get one shot at it. We live, die and become dust.  Merging back into the earth.  Our existence simply mirroring every other living organism on this planet.
