Less is more

When i train twice or 3 times a week  can see myself growing fast. 

when i trained 5, 6 times a week i get overtrained and never grow muscle.

if you re natural 3 times a week is all you need.

I completely disagree.  If you have the diet to support training 5x a week, you will grow more, guaranteed.  Less is more, doesn't really equate in the real world, but sounds good....doesn't it..haah
Of course, doing 48 sets for chest, would be overworking yourself though.

i disagree as well. i'm a nattie but i train 5 days a week one trainining session for each body part shred the shit out of it rest it and feed it for a week. i see myself growing quite a bit like this.

For myself, at least, I have found this to be somewhat true.  I have found that 4-5 days per week of weight training works well for me.  I have also found that less is more when it comes to the number of sets I do per bodypart.  I found that I improve/grow faster when I do 5-6 sets for big parts (EG back, chest, legs) rather than 7-8 (or more).  Then again, this is what I think works for me; someone else might be different.

jrod thats good. realizing what works for you might not work for others etc. for me i find if i wanna get good results i gotta shred it once a week for me that usually means 18-22 sets for chest that kinda thing. and all to failure with partial holds on the last set of each exercise.

when you train 3 days in a row, your workout is gonna suffer. no matter what you eat. for me it works better one day on one day off. often i have a 3 days break, and to my surprise i look much better after that.  if you workout everyday, you will just have a constant pump in your muscles, and quess what thats not real muscle.

Just do what works best for you, if you get caught up in what others tell you and switch your routine every time you think you find something better you will never give your body a chance to see what works and what doesnt.  Give every workout at least 16 weeks to see if your body is responding.  If your changing your workout everytime a new issue of FLEX comes out, you are banging your head against the wall.

I know a lot of pros that didn't know what they were doing for years, and haven't been training for 13 years.  I'd be interested in seeing what someone who gets "great results" for 13 straight years looks like!

Edit: what pro's do you know personally.  The only time you need to train more than less is close to contest time.  Other than that, its all about putting on size.  If you can Deadlifts 455 and then turn around and squat 455 the next day more power to ya.

I've experimented with many routines over the years and I found I grow (and get stronger) doing a 3 on 1 off routine.

I know quite a few personally. 
Most of them don't know anything about training or nutrition, and that's the best way to go about it. 

At some point, someone hoping to push their own image helps them out, and tells them the basics.  They learn a simple training routine, and learn to eat chicken and rice. 

So, years later, they're busting ass on that simple training routine (not knowing why in the hell they're even doing it that way), and eating chicken and rice. 

All the while, pussies like you are learning about some super post owrkout shake, and avoiding overtraining at all costs. HAHAHAH

Why do you think Ronnie does the same training routine he has been doing for 20 years? 
Because he doesn't know what the fuck to do on his own.  Someone told him that routine, so he did it, and continues to do it to this day. 

Do you think he knows why he has a protein drink and grits for breakfast?  He doesn't know....he knows someone told him to eat it.

I do not really agree with this guy on much...but he did not say if you WORK OUT...he said TRAIN. If you are really training and natural, you could not work out more than 3-4 times a week and recouperate properly. All you guys saying you go 5-6 times a week...you are working out not training. He is 100% correct on this. If you think you cannot grow on three days a week or REAL training, you do not know bodybuilding or powerlifting...you know working out.

eating less donuts is also a good way to keep your bodyfat in check.

Dude, are you really gonna go there with me? I am a national champion natrual powerlifter, competed in numerous bodybuilding shows, training with former Mr. Americas and Wrold Champion powerlifters...I am 5'6 215 with a near 400 bench, over 500 squat and over 600 dead...and I am fairly lean...lean enough to get in shape for a bodybuilding show in 8-10 if I chose to do so. What do you have to bring to this discussion? So yes...I have grown plenty with my approach...ass hat.
