I'm not even talking about the countless wannabe "muscle mags" instead let's stick to the basics...

I mean there is only so much you can talk about bodybuilding, let's have a look at the two major mags and how they deal with the year round summer hole.

Flex: Is fixing the lack of new and interesting information by re digesting old information and contradicting them self year round, one year carbs are good the next year carbs are out and a Calorie is not a Calorie, not to forget the once or twice a year Arnold special. Talking about the Arnold specials, anybody else had a good laugh at what Arnold (with accent) supposedly said during workout? ::) pathetic.

The only reason (if any) you should buy Flex is for the images, but let's face it, with the internet and all the BB pages out there you get your information way WAY faster, the trick is of course to separate rumors from the truth.

MD: The king of advertisement (more than 200 pages of No Bull ::) advertisement and supposedly hardcore brutal Steroid information ... most of the information small articles around Basic sexual health, weight loss, and training supplementation gathered around from other web pages or what ever source.
Same as Flex MD is only good for the images forget the roids info you get way better and more information about Steroids online.

Anybody want to add something?

nothing to add. both suck.

MD and its wannabe hardcore layout and writing that makes a 12 year old giggle in embarassment is by far the worse. FLEX is only boring, but MD is just plain stupid.

It pains me that I have bought a subscription to MD, but there is no other way to get it here...

hahaha, brutal self owning.

you claim it sucks yet pay to read it? that cannot be helped, it's your own fault.

I have only one issue, the one they send to me for free. I hated the Valvolino article that had no editing and was written in caps. Who the hell prints BS like this?

Like I said above, I still would buy it but not for the obvious reasons but for the images, MD yeah I pwned myself good and propper, but I had no chance of knowing what the mag would be like.

well, I have to admit that Flex used to be the only mag I was interested in. the "Hard time" section is still my favorite, but I only browse through flex at the book store these days. I don't buy it anymore. It seems that every month it's the same training articles, different Pros telling you the same recycled old stuff. let's just hope there is a future for Mags in this day and age. their prices are already up, maybe they should bring us fresh material, or at least try

I wouldn't waste my money on either of them. Flex is just the same recycled shit & then MD is full of ads & is poorly written.

The genre of the bodybuilding mag is inherently limited. There just isn't that much to say... and exclusive deals with BBers mean that the same folks get most of the coverage, etc.

Solution? Look at M&F and Men's Health. We might ridicule them, but they're very popular, despite the limited subject matter they work with. Maybe MD and FLEX can learn something from them.

(I like Valentino's article--it's like watching someone fall down a long flight of stairs and survive.)

I still read them from time to time.  One thing that is nice is that you don't get the plethora of idiots chiming in like you do on the net.

Not if they were giving it away.  None to worry though, Billy Guns probably buys all the extra copies we don't.  Save money, read the same shite over the net for free.   Magazines are packed with more ads than anything else.  It's pointless.

Ive pretty much stopped buying all these mags unless it was an evant I went to (IE... Olympia Expo, CO Pro...just in case I may be in the pics of the expos)

Seriously...most of the material has been printed before especially Flex or Muscle and Fitness...there is really nothing new. They just end up putting new pics on it ands title it something different...

I find when i use to buy these mags, they would later collect dust after I had read them.

I would just go to a Barnes and Nobles or Borders and read them for free....

I just picked up a recent Olympia adition Flex mag with Cutler on the cover to read while I  do some cardio..

and I saw the tiniest of articles about the Myth Sergio Oliva and a tiny pictures. I thought to myself if they had some specials with him training or on the cover that would make for one great magazine that even the general public would be interested in buying.

They had a special with Mark Dugdale training chest.. with some other dude.. Imagine if Sergio and Serge had a special like that :o or even with Arnold and the Sergio or Betil hahah 8)
just push some weight!

I just looked at the latest MuscleMag International at the newstands today. It's a...gasp....Arnold special. Making it the first time any magazine has done an Arnold special. But that's not the point, the point is, you would think that an Arnold special could not possibly be boring. Well, it was. The pictures were shite  & the articles were shite. I used to buy MuscleMag all the time as it was the last great BB mag and always had great pictures and a great star profile. Now, it's just full of ads and totally impartial articles on Muscletech. As far as I'm concerned, the BB magazine is as dead as the Dodo.
