Has anyone ever obtained a balance between mind/body/spirit?
« on: April 25, 2007, 04:52:49 PM »
I mean, has anyone ever developed a good body, a great mind, and was spiritual on another lever. A Perfect  balance between MIND BODY and SOUL? Jesus and Bhudda probably were the best examples of spiritual perfection, but since Jesus died at 33, he falls short becoming a someone with the wisdom and knowledge of say, Socrates or Plato. Neither they have the physiques of that of athletes.

It seems that within history there has never been anybody with that perfect blend. Usually they are only strong in one area, and lack the other two.

It my not seem like that in history because a person who achieved that balance may have never been someone a historian had written about.  he may have been just an ordinary person.

I am on a quest to achieve that balance, but have a long way to go.  I have met people that I think are there.

How would you define this balance?  How would you define the diference between mind & soul.  I often blurr these two...

MindSpin
Balance is probably defined differently by different individuals.  I don't know.  But in my opinion, this is how you exercise each area:

Body: I've seen your pictures, so you don't need help there.

Mind: Learning new things, memorization, solving math problems, cross word puzzles, playing games that require thinking, etc.  There seems to be a connection between physical exercise and healthy eating which benefits both, mind and body.  Or maybe, lack of exercise and eating junk simply prevents your mind from developing or from functioning to its full potential.

Spirit(Soul): Praying, practicing selfless acts, forgiving, fasting while praying, depriving yourself of sleep for one night while praying.  There seems to be a connection between spiritual growth and temporarily depriving your body of basic needs such as food and sleep, while replacing them with something spiritual, such as prayer.

Again, these are just personal opinions and things that I am still learning about.

Wrong.

The real good effect kicks in after about 30 - 40 minutes, it has nothing to do with hearing your heart beat.

It's like your head becomes empty, and you reach a kind of "elevated state of consciousness". You feel very connected to something beyond yourself.

During this time, Debussey gets tons of ideas and solution to problems.

The key is to not do shit for 60 minutes, just sit alone and do nothing.  Preferably in nature. No distractions = allowed.

Very good and relaxing technique.

i'll give it a shot...and see what happens...

i usually get solutions to complex networking problems in my dreams ( i know i know how that sounds) or at odd times..lik drinking in the bar..or when i wake up at night for a snack and am watching the teli and drinking..

but i'll give this a shot..

it'll also be a test to see if i can actually sit in one place for an hour..

Easiest way to reach a balance with the mind body and soul would be to put on a James Brown record.

How would you define this balance?  How would you define the diference between mind & soul.  I often blurr these two...

Like having the body of 1992-93 Flex (or maybe not as big). the spirituality of Jesus. The wisdom of King Solomon (or insert name)

I have noticed that those who are on a spiritual quest either neglect their bodies or like Indian Yogis have stringy withered look to them

The soul (or spirit) is hard to discribe, the only thing I can closely say i is is when you have peace with yourself, where everthing is jiving right, the mojo is going, and people embrace and are drawn to you like bees to honey.
