The European Parliament is condemning Poland for its so-called "homophobia." Members of the European Parliament from France, the Netherlands and Italy recently branded Poland as "hateful" and "repulsive" for refusing to allow homosexual propaganda in its schools.
The European Parliament has passed a resolution that calls for "worldwide decriminalization of homosexuality." The EP also vows to take so-called "homophobic" member nations of the European Union to court.
Dr. Allan Carlson is international secretary of the World Congress of Families. He says there's a large clash of worldviews taking place in Europe.
"Some people have written Europe off as lost to a post-family, secular, militantly left-wing worldview," Carlson notes. But he says, "Actually, Europe's not lost yet; there are a few champions of the family; some nations, particularly in Eastern Europe, are standing up against this new anti-family mindset."
The World Congress of Families official says the European Parliament's actions set up a big test of the powers of the European Union versus its member nations. "Many in Poland are very skeptical of the European Union beyond its strictly economic functions of taking down tariff barriers, and so I think a great fight is brewing," he points out. "It will be interesting and I think, not only interesting, but it will be very important to the future of the continent how it plays out."
Carlson says those nations that are trying to "save Europe" by protecting the natural family include Latvia, Croatia, Slovakia, and Poland. Warsaw, Poland, is the site of next month's World Congress of Families IV, the largest international pro-family gathering.
