I totally agree, just going through a marine based Juvenile Bootcamp taught me things I could never learn in any school or everyday life. I would do it again if I had a choice cause it was a life changing experience, my camp commander was a 20+ year vet of the Marines and was on active duty his whole career. He reminded me of a real life G.I. Joe with the deep booming voice and the look of a true warrior. He didn't comand respect you just gave it to him, he is def the most badass guy I have ever met in my life yet no one was afraid of him cause we all had complete trust in that everything he did was for our own good and that he was always looking out for us. I have no doubt he could set any goal and complete it with his level of dedication and determination.

There are times in life you learn from a book and others a teacher and sometimes you get the chance to live and learn the experence at the same time and those are very valuable. Many people talk about accomplishment of a mission and can only see there part in it. I am not saying you can only be a good leader from the Corp But you do get a chance to lead in serious life and death situations and learn responsibility of both yourself and your team in a way you just can't do in the civilian world. I think it would be a good starting place for most people (any service) that are young and immature and are not sure what or where to lead there life. Plus on a after corp life, I have found many doors open for me because of my service that never would have been otherwise, similar to being ain a frat but for me the people that I run into do not just talk the talk they also walk it.

Hell yeah, I can def say I learned something even from something as minor and doing field day (cleaning the squad bay) or doing tree removal with the whole platoon.
