Liverpool deserved to win, not sure if Kuyt's goal should have been disallowed...it was a close decision.

Kuyts was a fair goal - it was level - which is on in the rules

The final will be a tough match to call.  Both great European teams, with great players on each side. Will be a great game i think.

I honestly dont see why - milan have not improved there side since then, whereas liverpool have. You cannot judge milan from that game last night - man utd played 3 in midfield so were totally over run, and played totally the wrong way against milan. The way to play them is how bayern did in the first leg of the quarter final - tight, 2 big men up front (crouch and kuyt), plenty of power and aggression. I do think it will be a tight game - and think it could go either way 50-50 - but people saying milan will destroy lpool are just getting caught up in the hype of a good performance last night (matched as much by a bad performance by man utd), and talking out there ass  :D. I wonder if united had played as well as they did when they beat roma, everybody would be big upping milan now? Oh no - thats right - because different styles match / defeat different teams  :)

Bluto, you still talking shite? No way can you write us off from this after what weve done to get here. When the last 8 was drawn i bet on Liverpool beating Milan in the final, and hopefully ill be £200 to the good!

When we needed 3 goals to beat those bloody Greeks in 05 at Anfield, everyone wrote us off. We eventually beat the best from Greece, Germany, England and the 2 best teams from Italy. Things are looking eerily similar to date and i have a feeling if we can contain Kaka and limit Seedorfs space we will do it again

fancy a bet on it?

yep.

where are you from?

wonderful game although I hate it being decided on penalties

(unless it's us v chelsea and we have Reina in goal.  waa.  I've never seen anyone save two penalties, that was a score.

You'll still let me post here on your football thread won't you?  My grandad played for Liverpool so I'm LFC blood.  Come on you Reds.

REDS CRASH TO DEFEAT AT THE COTTAGE

Liverpool's bid to win the race for third place in the Premiership has suffered a setback after they went down to a 1-0 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Clint Dempsey's goal midway through the second half proved to be the crucial moment of the match as Rafael Benitez's side fell to their second Premiership defeat in succession.

The Reds still stand a point ahead of Arsenal in the league standings, but the Gunners now have a game in hand against Chelsea on Sunday.

With more than one eye on resting key players ahead of the Champions League final, manager Rafael Benitez made nine changes to the side which defeated Chelsea in midweek with only Pepe Reina and Jermaine Pennant surviving from Tuesday night.

Craig Bellamy was partnered by Robbie Fowler in attack while Harry Kewell made his first appearance of the season on the substitute's bench.

Despite the game holding much more importance for Lawrie Sanchez's side as they battle for their Premiership lives, it was Liverpool who enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges with Craig Bellamy missing a couple of early chances.

Fulham soon settled down and started causing problems for the Reds' backline, with Vincenzo Montella going closest to breaking the deadlock with an overhead kick which rebounded to safety off the base of the post.

Robbie Fowler missed a chance to add to his incredible career haul against Fulham by missing a sitter on the stroke of half time when he failed to convert from close range after good play by Jermaine Pennant.

The deadlock was broken midway through the second half and came at a time when it was Liverpool who looked the more likely side to open the scoring.

The Reds' defence were caught out down the flank and when full-back Liam Rosenior rolled the ball into the area substitute Clint Dempsey was well placed to slot the ball past Pepe Reina to score his first goal of the season.

Rafael Benitez made an instant change with Steve Finnan coming off the substitute's bench to replace Emiliano Insua while Harry Kewell joined the action soon after to make his first appearance of the campaign.

Kewell almost made a dream return with a low shot ten minutes from time which rolled agonisingly wide with Robbie Fowler just unable to touch the ball home.

Gabriel Paletta thought he'd equalised when he powered home a free kick from Xabi Alonso but his joy was short-lived as the linesman flagged for offside.

The Reds forced a number of late corners in a bid to salvage a point but Fulham survived to claim three precious points in their battle for safety, even though they lost midfielder Papa Diop in the final minute to a red card.

But now we've finally given in to the foreign investor.  Watch out.
We're the last big team to take the money.

And you know, there's a very good chance we'll win this little title again, before all the big money arrives.  Well, the odds are 2 to 1.
