What else would bodybuilding be?

It is the hardest sport on the planet but so many people make a mockery of it because of their own insecurities.

Here we go again...............If you compete yes, if not still yes.  You have to train, practice, and actually participate in the event in which you did the said work.  If you do the first two but don't do the third it is recreational sport or hobby.

Let's here some other responses.  Particularly from some of the people who claim it is not a sport.

I would like to add that bodybuilding is what you make it to be. It does not have to be about prancing around onstage in a thong. BB to me is to forge a physique worthy of your own satisfaction. You are the artist and you are the canvas. What you do to the canvas is up to you. I am aiming to build a masterpiece!

I am a sportsman with the insight of a grand artist. I build my physique one fine stroke at a time. :)

Yes, of course, those 3 sets per bodypart with 3 min rests are killer ::)

Alexxx stated it was the hardest "sport" on the planet but since you brought up sprinting.........it's much physically harder than bodybuilding diet aside.

Unless you are an IFBB Pro your opinion doesn't matter if it is a sport or not  ::)

IMO to classify something as a sport, you would have to assume there are athletes involved........I have clients who train much harder than some of the current pro's, would you classify them as "athletes"?

Someone who has the attributes of an athlete should possess Strength, conditioning, speed, skill, agility, balance, coordination and flexability.

If they're trying to ban cameras at public events, then no, it's not a sport.

Yes, but since bodybuilders do not follow the same protocol of training as athletes they would be running a serious risk of injury!

Kewl, so you're in agreement -- bodybuilders are athletes.

Only one way to find out........next month I start the second sessions of my strength camps for my combine athletes, if they can hang for lets say the first 45mins, I might reconsider my position.
