Adam, when I first saw this on CNN, I was pleasantly surprised. I have been reading Hitchens' books and articles for years, and I can't tell you how much of an influence he has been in my own work. And I have to admit, Anderson Cooper's interviewing skills actually added to the quality of the discussion. Wolf Blitzer (etc.) would not have been able to handle this.

I was very impressed with the posts both on this board and in other places I read which criticized Jerry Farwell. He was an offensive and prejudice person pretending to act under the guise of peace and kindness. It made me realize that there are more thinkers out there than I once thought!

TA - Anderson Cooper is kind of an irrational person though too isn't he?

Do you remember that tomb of Jesus documentary? I caught a news piece on CNN with Anderson Cooper interviewing one of the main parties involved in the production. As a refutation, Anderson was going on about how the documentary was irrational and unscientific. A religious person saying that - wow! Blew my mind. He failed to acknowledge that simply discussing the topic at all in a "scientific" manner is logically bankrupt and hypocritical.

I'm saying TA needs to learn how to relate better to people. I like TA, only because I can see beyond his bluntness and insensitivity. Most people would be turned off from anything he says unless they already agree with him.
