Thanks for the critiques...here's my comments
1) Always keep looking at the once you make the interview with, you tend to look away when you ask your question.
Ideally, the camera shouldn't even be on me when I'm not talking but woe is me because it's not easy finding a DP. Block did a great job at the Arnold under tough circumstances. The reason I don't look at my subject when they're talking because I want them looking at the camera and not back at me. But I agree with you that it looks awkward when I am on camera gazing off into the sunset!
2) You need to rethink your wardrobe
At the Arnold, on assignment, I had to wear an MD shirt. For the NYPro, I forgot my "special" shirt. I'm a t-shirt and
buttplug jeans kind of guy, though, so no fancy stuff, unless I'm working the red carpet.
3) Don't ask long questions, you need to make the questions fast and bullet like, I'll be honest you are funny and all, but I still want to hear more what the one you interview hast o say.
I'd agree with that but I am improvising. I have no pre-planned questions, so when I'm talking, I'm just buying time while thinking of another question.
