Well not literally...
I work as a product engineer and was recently promoted to manager of the product engineering group where I work...anyway my boss tried to offer me 10,000 below the midrange for the position. When I told him I knew what the range was and wouldn't take the position for less than mid--he left in huff; said he had a meeting to go to..THEN
He comes back maybe 20 minutes later (pretty short meeting I guess) and says he didn't get to explain the "whole story"...which according to him is that the salary he offered is effective NOW and that in 30 days (we get general increases on June 15) they will bump me up considerably. It just so happens that the number is right on with what I originally told him I wanted.
Can anybody relate to this? I got what I wanted but left feeling like I just bought a car at a shady dealership. If these people only knew that I know what everyone in the company is being paid down to the penny...
