I bought a Starbucks Barista espresso maker, and have made delicious lattes every morning for the past year and a half.

You don't have to get suckered into their expensive drinks. Just get coffee; if you get the larger sizes or include the price of a a refill the price per cup's reasonable and i tastes better than  Dunkin.

Dunkin is like water. Starbucks is nice and strong.. I just drink it black with a extra shot of espresso.  8)

Lotsa hype about Dunkin; the regulars there mustn't know any better. Some of the other good chains have good coffee too, like Au Bon Pain.

For anyone shopping at Costcos, they sell 2 lb. bags of beans or ground for $6/lb. that if you look on the back in fine print is packaged by Starbucks, and is the same taste.

To make something similar with generic beans, use a smaller portion of stronger French roast beans with Columbian and you'll get more or less the Starbucks taste.

I just like the caffine buzz that it gives me and the strong taste.

Makes me think that I really need to buy a coffee or espresso machine.

Once drank around 6 espresso shots and couldn't sleep.. Went to work despite it.  ;D

I used to be a $4/cup guy, too, but then decided I was pouring too much money down the drain.  I'm generally not wasteful at all, so my Starbucks 'habit' was pretty surprising.

That said, when I'm on the road, I'll generally give them my money because I do like the flavors.

In Canada, though, Blenz or Second Cup holds trump.

Canada and other countries with a longer established tradition of coffee/tea chain stores, is holding up well against the Starbucks onslaught. They're doing fine and expanding along with Starbucks, even though Starbucks is doing well.

I went to the original Peet's, still on the Berkley campus. It was good but i wouldn't say better than 'bucks, even though i wanted it to be considering 'bucks came from Peets.

Damn, just grind some quality beans in a basic but quality espresso machine and make yourself a quality cup of coffee without fruity flavours and machiato bullshit.

Second Cup in Canada has the quality of Starbucks, with laid back attitude and no ultra prissy coffee girls or whatever they're called.

Although since I date a Tim Hoe, can't really say much :D

There's one at Schiphol nowadays. A starbucks that is.

If I pay them a visit I will take a look at the menu, and order an espresso.

Doesn't have the same taste; personally i'd say it's fine but not outstanding.

It's funny I've never had a cup of coffee in my entire life... no idea why.

Beer is another story...
