In defense of the IFBB pro division
« on: May 25, 2007, 07:40:09 PM »
While I don't agree with the levels of extreme drug use prevelent in pro bodybuilding, I am fan of IFBB pro shows. Why? Name another organization that comes close to the level of production quality, size and level of competition. The PDI is a noble effort, but still pales in comparison and the "natural pro " shows are small, poorly attended events.
My concern about drugs relates only to the health and legal aspects . I sincerely don't like hearing tales of pros getting busted or in the hospital for doing what the modern sport requires of them , just to compete in the sport they love. But, they are big boys and know the risks, so what the hell.
As a long time bodybulder, after all is said and done, I simply want to see some great physiques on stage and attend a quality event with expo. The IFBB pro div provides that and has done it better and longer than anyone else.

In the end , many will bust my balls for saying this. But seriously, if putting on a major bodybuilding show was cheap and easy, why have most others that tried, crashed and burned?
