any of you mma type guys train to harden the feet with makiwara training?

Not sure what you mean by harden feet... Building callouses?, Desensitize the nerve endings?, etc...  I use the makiwara but I utilize more to strengthen.

for the front toe kick

also try to drag yourself just by using the toes, rather hard to do /painful

nope why would we do that. most people dont kick with their feet anyway

uechi has a penetrating toe kick

you tap the toes lightly on the floor to start to train for it

devastating in the thighs goes right into it and will put you down

Back in the late 80's when I use to practice martial arts I use to do front kicks and sidekicks to a board and brick.  I would also punch with my knuckles and razor hand.  My hands were extremely hard my feet were pretty hard.  Now, i have have soft supple feet and hands that can still punch and kick just as hard.
