Houston Alexander - UFC Debut
« on: May 29, 2007, 07:35:27 PM »
So I went to Vegas for UFC 71.  Had a great time! 8)  One of the most impressive fights was Keith Jardine vs. Houston Alexander.

Check out the knockout vid: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2446511496299117861&q=alexander+ufc

Longer version: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3919497869289597770&q=alexander+ufc

What do you guys think of THAT?  :o

He ended up walking into the lounge where I was drinking afterwards too, got to meet him & talk for a bit... seems like a pretty cool guy!

Good fight, I first thought for a second when he got hit by Keith that "ok this is over" it was cool to see how he turned it around

I think he's got a future with the UFC.  His uppercut is impressive!

i like jardine but i feel that he is a bit overrated. he kind of got lucky against forrest and he said the guy wasn't in his league. he just got to cocky

Houston got lucky...

Jardine thought he caught him with a knockout blow and didn't realise Houston wasn't hurt that bad. If he did he wouldn't have charged in. A win is a win nonetheless. I think Jardine might win in a rematch though.

EDIT: Just realized what you meant, LOL!  Jardine wouldn't have charged in if knew Houston wasn't that hurt.  Disregard my original statement below then!

If you watch the fight again, Houston charged in earlier on.  That was the strategy apparently.  He commented on that in a video interview if I recall correctly.  They studied most of Jardine's fights, and figured they would challenge him in close quarters.  With that knowledge, you can see he attempted that to begin with from what I can tell.

If that was his strategy, I would say it worked pretty well, leaving luck out of it!

You think that he has heavy hands or ended up just throwing some bombs? I think that he got Sardine with a couple heavy ones and continued to throw the hay makers like he was from the plantation. I want to know how he does in a technical fight not just a 45 second punching match.. What happens if he ends up on the ground is my question? well I guess time will tell Dana will cash crop this mother fucker...Hey Ant I guess Dana is gonna pimp your race for another 30,000 in PPV sells huh?

I am hoping he isn't a one trick pony like Kongo, or Hardonk.  (actually Hardonk has a decent jits game)

i agree. jardine should have jumped on him when he had him hurt. if they fought again it could go either way.

I'm saying the opposite of that. Jardine hit him with a decent shot...but he overestimated how hurt Houston was and charged in recklessly.
