Russia Tests New Missiles, Warns U.S.
By STEVE GUTTERMAN
AP
MOSCOW (May 30) - Russia tested new missiles Tuesday that a Kremlin official boasted could penetrate any defense system, and President Vladimir Putin  warned that U.S. plans for an anti-missile shield in Europe would turn the region into a "powder keg."

Funny you should say that.

Because the Russians themselves made it seem like they were reacting to Bush's insistence on putting a missile defense system in Poland.

But from your keyboard, you've clarified that the blame doesn't fall to a diplomatic blunder on Bush's part - but rather to Bill Clinton.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Using the US asa boogeyman will keep the Russian people from looking deeply into how a few private citizens completely control the Russian oil industry without a dime of it going back to them. Old vlad helped of course. All BS and we're a pretty easy bad guy right now.

A man can't do everything at once, you know.

He's been busy with shoring up our defenses closer to home. You know: making sure every shipping container coming into our ports gets inspected.

Oh, and naturally, insuring that the levee system in New Orleans will withstand the major hurricane that we know is coming.

So... since he's been in office, their count has gone up... ZERO?

You sure Clinton is the one you should be blaming?  China is blowing up satellites and Russia just got their own starwars shield operations - and you're bitching about clinton?

fucking foolish, man.

The problem is a lack of democracy traditions in Russia.

What can the Fountains of Democracy, ie the countries in West do?

I don't think a confrontational policy is the right way.

Instead, working to get close, real close with Russia again, in order to make the biggest countries in the world moving somewhat in the same direction.

If West cooperates and gets into as many agreements as possible with Russia, our democracy will spread into Russia.

And democracy is fragile right now over there.

Again..these guys straddle East and West..they don't have the traditions as hedge says and they walk a fine line. Can Democracy work there? I'm not sure. The Czars..to a failed Duma..to Lenin and the Commies. I think the NU Rich have damaged that fragile democracy and Putin is not doing much to foster it. I think they have more in common with the West. They face the same issues.  They see islam as a threat and they are interested in expanding their markets. I think witha stabilized middle east policy we can turn our attention back toward getting them back in the fold.

Here research these topics and then you might be able to debate this issue with me. How many missle wings were shut down under clinton, how many ICBMs were moved to other installations, how many silos were made inoperable under Clinton. Now once you find that info out, research how long it would take to reactivate a wing and re-open those abandoned silos. because without that knowledge you don't have a leg to stand on.

The fact of the matter is, we have Bush to thank for having ICBMs at all. We have plenty to protect our national interests as we speak, we wouldn't have if Clinton would have remained another 4 years.

FWIW,

I think all those moves by Clinton were very wise.

Reagan and Gorbatchov started it all in the 80's, disarming.

There is no point in keeping the world on its toes, waiting for the final termination.

To arm up is wrong.

Keeping the balance is important, and slowly lessen the tension, uni-lateraly.

Strategic forces and commands instead of weapons of mass destruction.

Russia and USA, along with the other nations, needs to find a way together.

Step in the right direction.....

Sweet!

That's great news.

We need stuff like that. After months of hearing about how gays are being assaulted during parades, how Anna Politskajava were murdered, et al.

I have to disagree...we can't play nice and dissarm completely.....we are the kings of the world and there will always be someone looking to take us over....like every great nation in history.

1. YOU said clinton messed up the ICMB mix.
2. I didn't argue it - I asked you what Bush had done to fix them.

You then sent me to research clinton - after i conceded that point to you.
