When in fantasy season do you root for your real team or your fantasy team? I have Haren against my beloved Sox tonight......have to admit I need a win from Haren!!

I only play fantasy football and i find it hard when  my favorite team is playing against players from my fantasy team and even harder if my fantasy opponent has players on his team from my favorite team.  A common rookie mistake people make when drafting is drafting based on their favorite and not the best player.  That's how i ended up with T.O. one year when he had the meltdown in Philly  ;D.  I hate the eagles.   ;D

Never got into fantasy sports. Is it as fun as people say it is? I've known a few people that do it for every sport, they are busy with fantasy teams and leagues all year round.

Apparently they even hold draft days where they all get together and the pools can get pretty big. Sounds like it could be fun with the right people.

I started playing fantasy football about 15 years ago.  It's fun every year.  It keeps the games very interesting.  Try it out.  you can find leagues anywhere.   Always playing for money is the best IMO.

be careful it is adicting as hell dude...it takes a year or two to get used to how it works but when you get it....ohhhh it is like a drug!!! I only do baseball and football but it has made those sports that much more interesting to me. Instead of just following one team I have a stake in just about every game on every day. I started following drafts, paying attention to off season trades....if you are a sports fan you can't go wrong.

Fantasy football is a necessary addiction. Totally fun and I love the trash talking between teams in my league. It adds a little something, you know?

Like the other guy alreay said...always draft the best player available, not your favorite player.

I had this idiot in my league last year and he drafted Charles Rogers with the 8th pick because he was a die hard Lions fan. Fucking idiot. I only want to be in leagues were people know what the hell they're doing. I join two or three every season.

I'm a convert.  Thought the whole concept was dumb, till my buddy twisted my arm into to trying it.  That was about 5 or 6 years ago.  I'm hooked.  I've come a long way since taking Mike Vanderjagt in the fourth round my first year.   :-[  Two championships and counting.

I actually just started my first offseason mock today with some friends.

My draft(s) starts up in late August. Hard to believe that's in two months considering the summer's just started.

Can't wait.... :D

Any predictions on who will be selected first? I'm sure LT will be at the top of everyone's draft list whoever has the first pick.

I'd play if we had a league where we draft and some amount of money is involved.  $50+ ok with me.

I'm down for a live draft as long as all 10 are there. I hate drafts where only 6 people show up and they luck into good picks because the comp does it for them...How would we work the money?

Yeah,  all 10 must be there.   I donno how.  I think 240 knows how to use pay pal to secure the money some how.  If he wants, i'd trust him to hold it.

Top three are about the same as last year (in random order):

LT
LJ
SA

Don't know about Shaun Alexander. Dude's 30 years old now and coming of a broken foot. He could end up being a late first round steal.

Can't see him as a late round pick.  He is a TD machine.  He doesn't have a big injury history.  He's good for about 18-20 TDs a year.  Hard to pass that up.

I think if you are in the 3rd spot and LT & LJ are gone you have to pick him.

Just based on what I've seen from you on the boards, I'd have to say that - if you have the time for a league - you'd be perfectly suited for the cerebral challenge that is fantasy football.  I don't do baseball at all and only do basketball and hockey during the playoffs (which is great!), but fantasy football has grown into a religion in many pockets of our society.
