Artists squint all the time looking at their sketches. I do that when I'm looking at my building designs. I usually squint when I'm not yet convinced the design is good enough and am trying to validate it's worth by squinting - hoping the proportions would appear better that way. It's weird. That's probably what's going on with Jay when he squints.
