Most pros in Larry Pepe's "The Precontest Bible" said that their best ever conditioning was when they turned pro.

No pro needs to make any improvements whatsoever from their pro winning form.  Zero, zilch, nada!  All a pro has to do is duplicate the exact form they were in when they turned pro to see great success in the pro ranks.  Every single year, the pro who turns pro at the Nationals has a physique capable of qualifying for the Olympia.  How many pros do we see who screw it up and try to get too big too fast only to never look as good as they did when they turned pro?

I agree they do look better OVERALL at the lighter wts. However, what chance will they stand next to Jay or Markus if they don't beef up. Without wt classes in the pros, you will continue to see the smaller guys trying to bulk up too much and ruin the line of their great physiques.

Very good physique. I wouldnt say Dugdale though is the best example of a pro who looked better as an amatuer. But there is plenty - Lionel Brown, Omar Deckard, Bill Willmore. Probably the overwhelming majority of the last 5+ years.

You picked the worst example possible. If anyone has been able to keep his lines and aesthetics intact while getting bigger and harder, it's Dugdale.

Dugdale is OLD SCHOOL... ;D

What I can really appreciate about a guy like him & Rockel & David Henry & Dexter is they have NEVER bought into the RACE FOR MASS.

It is a shame the sport has gravitated to these HUGE GUTS and abnormalities...

I would rather look like Ronnie Rockel or a Mark Dugdale over Cutler, Coleman, Ruhl, James, Baddell etc ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

no way,was a great amateur as lightheavyweight ,and as a middle was good, needed to fill out lats and thighs which he did as a lightheavy, needed to move up to become pro.he was not a up n comer as a middle,a very good example of a amateur to pro transition without loosing a beat, conditioning the same and add little mass at a time without ruining his base.take his build in a heartbeat.

I like the fact that Mark didn't bullshit anyone when they asked him his arms mesurement at mayhem

he said that Off-season, at a bodyweight of 230 lbs, it is a little over 19 inches

seems about right !

first time I remember a pro saying he has below 20 inches arms !
