Can't they realize that they are the problem? I mean it would make a huge difference if all suvs were replaced with cars that get 30mpg.. Prices would fall as supply would increase.

AND $3.25 isn't shit compared to the $6 they pay in europe.

that is only because the government instituted a petro tax/surcharge. Which I think we need here also, we will only change our ways when we are forced for economic reasons

onlyme that is not true..leasing makes sense financially..stop thinking with your heart

you are only paying for the time that you are using the vehicle. And as you stated if you buy it through your company some of the cost can be written off. Also most lease plans cover maintenance (oil/breaks/tune ups) for the lease period.

when you run the numbers leasing can be cheaper than owning

Not necessarily.  Owning a depreciating asset is not a good thing.  Even if you could pay cash for the car outright, if you have investment opportunities available to you that have a higher rate of return that the interest rate on the lease, you're better off leasing and putting your money to use elsewhere rather than tying it up in a car.
