Dorian still has the best back ever overall. Size, detail, insertions, the grainy quality.

Personally i agree, but it's close and a matter of preference based on what's more important. Some of the clowns on here who supposedly follow BB don't comprehend that Coleman had the edge in terms of taper and width as well as a smaller waist. Yates had wide lats a good taper and extreme dryness, density and detail.

yes, ronnie, flex, others had taper on yates because of yates' wide waist, but the other qualities mentioned were so far ahead it was ridiculous.

it came down to apples and oranges in the end. do the judges go with lines and symmetry or freaky develoment and condition.

obviously they went with the latter.

no choice when you think about it. bodybuilding , like any other sport, has to be progressive and competitive to survive and if it was just about being 'aesthetically pleasing' you would just have guys like wheeler winning the thing year after year based on genetic attributes.

the simple fact is, fans want to be shocked, amazed. they want to see freaky muscle mass, not a modelling show.

ronnie obviously understood this. as the man said, when he came 6th or 7th he didn't complain, he just came back better than ever with more freaky development and won it all.

smart man. ;)
