yes, i'm sure you've seen the non-cropped version where the pooch is sitting all stately by him .
There are several different pictures of Franco dead-lifting in Gold's, as evidenced by his clothing. I think the one with the dog is somewhat iconic.

Deadlifts are great and in my opinion with Barbell rows the best exercises for thickness and mass in the whole back from erectors to traps.

one more thing. if your shy , you don't get to lift weights.
it's absolutely ok to drip your sweat on the bench.

here's some old skool shots
Yo Mr Funk. Is this your home gym? This is what old school should look like. Real steel benches, real piles of real iron Olympic plates. Dumbbell racks. Incline benches, chalk on the floor, torn up upholstery with duck tape. Worn through carpet, if any at all. That's how the greatest muscle Bodybuilders ever trained and they didn't need all the white painted copycat machine looking apparatuses that you see in every gym of today. When you look at most of the gyms of today, it's like looking in a mirror. They all look the same. Fitness centers aren't gyms. There Fitness Centers. There is a big difference. Sadly most all of the old school gyms are gone never to be seen agin other than in photos. Even Draper shut down his last gym recently. I'm with you Mr Funk. Old School means old school.

How many pieces is the Zuverman? Do you know what it weighs? I hope details of the owner will be made available. It would be quite a novelty to see that thing in person...and get some pictures...Funk!!

Ill be sure to give you the address as soon as we get him situated. That's a few weeks out yet. If you do visit him in the future please get photos and email me a copy. One more interesting point! I have become friends with the new gym owner through, where else, this site. Yes that's right the man is a member of GetBig.com. We have been talking offsite for quite a while now. You'll know who he is and his story soon enough.

LOVE THE OLD STUFF.
I concur wholeheartedly! My home gym...nothin but iron,(mostly old ''Billard'' plates, among others) the best way to go-no fancy, shiny machines. Also I love the pics and recollections of the old Zuver's gym-talk about ''Hardcore'', thanks for sharing, in this and other threads.
