I like going to both pro and npc shows and I judge (npc), etcI have never been to the Olympia. Why? It seemed to be more hype than hardcore contest.Granted the very best guys are there and the expo seems awesome. It seemd to be a lot of money to get a good seat compared to other pro events . For exxample, I got a great seat at the recent Colorado Pro show, for a lot less then what the same seat at the O would cost me.I only have so many $$$ resources and find the other pro shows better for me in terms of $$ and overall logistics.I also feel like I am supporting events that really need and desire the ticket buying fans. I do wonder if I am missing something special by not attending the Olympia however?
Yes..you are missing something special...history.
I can only tell you that you need to go to one, and see for yourself what is different...and I guarantee, you will think it was worth it.

A true fan of bodybuilding has to see at least one live Olympia. Nothing beats sitting next to a bunch of fellow fans of the overall winner, toasting each other with G scooped water bottles, juicehead hugging in the lobby saying "bro, fuckin' next year we do this again", and curling the airplane beverage cart on the flight back home.gate - airbus sized arms
I would think the pre-judging would be the part to see.
Howie, if you have to ask, then you already know the answer.
Other than looking at the overwhelming amount of assclowns that make up the bodybuilding crowd, I don't think it's worth it. Go to the Expo and you'll see all the "tough guy, gold chain, shit genetic, gear abusing, middle aged clowns" you'll need, until the next years Olympia. You see that it's their whole life, which is pretty sad considering most rely on drugs to do anything. Just a sad existence. So, yeah, go.
(surprisingly) King Kamali, who both looked big and conditioned even though they weren't competing that weekend.
