Is it hypocritical for a religious person to hate and ridicule other people?

This occurred to me from reading the posts of some board members that claim to be religious.

When a person claims to be religious yet openly hates people just because they are different that would seem to me to be hypocritical. It would seem to be at odds with the beliefs of most if not all religions.

I'm curious if any legitimate religions find it appropriate to openly ridicule the physical appearance of older people.

It's been a while since I've followed Catholicism closely but I don't remember it supporting these behaviors.

Two of  these clowns happen to be religious yet they belittled the appearance of a middle aged woman whose son died in Iraq.
