Should the Olympia go back to two weight classes?
« on: July 14, 2007, 05:40:54 AM »
For every school of thought that loves the freakish mass monsters, you've got another side that loves the aesthetic, Zane-like physiques. Some say that the quest to get bigger and bigger has ruined some promising careers simply because in order to compete with the upper echelon of bbing you need to be massive. Would guys like Dugdale-who refuse to play the size game-move farther up the ladder if we had two weight classes? Would revenue improve?

If we brought back two weight classes, would the overall title still go to the guy with the biggest physique?

Just for reference, I've put 2006 Cutler up against 1979 Zane.

It's a bad idea. This is the Mr Olympia - the top bodybuilding event in the world - putting in weight classes only waters it down.

Boxing is a top sport with weight classes all over it.

With weight classes in Mr.O , just think about it, Dexter Mutan Jackson at 185 pounds "Perfect for his frame" would have beaten anyone and take the Mr.O ...

Some guys weren't meant to b heavy weights!

2 classes would provide more money and less problems for the IFBB.
