i remember reading a mag back in the 90s with an auto bio on jay and him saying he started lifting weights with his dad at a very early age. along with the article there were pics of a young jay (well under 18) posing and lifting weights.

maybe he means he didn't start using gear until he was 18?

if anyone can recall it meanwhile, it was the article with pics of his family, him growing up, his girlfriend who's still with him and yes, various pics of a very young jay posing and lifting weights etc. started lifting weights with his dad very early.
